I think that now Sinner is able to destroy his opponents self confidence by raising his level in crucial points effortlessly. In the third set Fritz was in the zone, but suddenly Sinner decided it was enough and then for Fritz there was no chance.

Taylor is very good, but Yannik is quite another category. At the same time I'm really touched by Taylors honest analysis.

As much as I'll give credit to him reaching the final and giving Jannik a decent run, I'll still offer my "gratuitous" criticism.

He went into the final as the clear underdog. So mentally, he could have gone in with zero pressure. But it seems he took the load of the nation on his shoulders. Although I understand that every US citizen wants an American lifting the trophy, that was no realistic expectation for himself. He should have kicked it off, enjoying the support and giving his everything.

Tactically speaking, how can your plan A be "Serve big and battle it out on ground strokes". This is Sinner's own plan A and he's the better player. You have to come with something different and not with plan B "lower the intensity to increase the shot tolerance". Sinner's weak point is the short game. Where were the slices? The drop shots? The passing shots and the lobs? How about some S&V to mix it up? No, Fritz just stood there, waiting until the ground stroke battle would magically shift in his favor, which it did in the 3rd, then couldn't keep up the intensity and Sinner overtook him to win in straight sets.

Top sports is tough, tennis possibly among the toughest. Fritz didn't bring it on.

Taylor you really did do well. Please don't be so hard on yourself. What I see (a 80+Granny) is Sinner is able to change from defense to offence a little bit better but you are getting there. Chin up..this Canadian fan loves watching you.

He played a really good tournament and might have won had he not have come up against a red-hot opponent in Sinner. He ought to be so, so proud of what he achieved and how far he's come as a player in recent years. He's definitely on the right path to future successes. Well done, Taylor.

He made a great Us Open. I was convinced that he would win this 3rd set, too bad.... but congratz to Sinner! 🎾

"I feel like I let a lot of people down" means there was just too much pressure put on him. The difference with the big 3 is that they didn't have this mindset, he needs to adopt that energy.

Actually, a very nice and insightful interview by Taylor, and very relatable too. I agree with him that he's able to play better, but it is not easy to reach a 105% level in your first big final. Still, congrats for the amazing run

Fritz spoke perfectly about why he lost this match. He clearly has enormous power, but that comes at the cost of consistency. When he throttles back that power against Sinner, he gets bullied. The answer must be to be able to maintain that peak power but increase consistency. That's so much easier said than done.

He plays well, he has game. His mentality is the issue. Believe in urself man.

Fritz comes across as honest and humble and realistic and good analyses. If he can improve his speed and his backhand, he will win many tunings. Good thing there are some good people at the top like Fritz. Carlos and Djock I don't care much at all. Sinner is also a good person.

Taylor is a future USTA champion. He was Djokavic’s practice partner which tells you how good he is. He just needs to come to the net instead of staying at the baseline and deploying his powerful serve

I feel like that’s this entire generations problem 1:56 - Mens and women’s - they all want to comply Djockovic and “go into lockdown” when their A game isn’t working. And they only works with very specific players.

To be a champion. You have to have an -A / A & +A game. You can’t downshift into B mode and think that’s gonna work against a top player like Jannik.

I don’t know if it’s the new stroke production- that lag he hits with - but I just don’t get the feeling like players today really know how to stroke the ball to utilize all the heights, spins & how to work shorter angled balls with deeper balls. It’s all straight/ linear play / and Jannik is too good for that.

American tennis players outside of America do not show anything remarkable. They don't have the class of European tennis players 💪🏆
