It doesn't matter if "regular" people have accurate information? Then does it matter if "regular" people have any information at all?

We live in a society wit a representative government, meaning the "regular" people are the ones who decide who gets to make decisions in their name. One might argue it would be helpful to have accurate information when making such a decision.
