BLAAN TRIBE COURTSHIP DANCE IN SULTAN KUDARAT, PHILIPPINES

During our recent visit to La Palmera Mountain Ridge in Sultan Kudarat, Telafas National Highschool students welcomed us with their cultural performance. They performed a traditional Blaan courtship dance.

The Blaan people are one of the indigenous peoples of Southern Mindanao in the Philippines. Their name could have derived from "bla" meaning "opponent" and the suffix "an" meaning "people". According to a 2021 genetic study, the Blaan people also have Papuan admixture.

Telafas National High School Blaan Cultural Dance Ensemble bagged the award as 1st Runner-up in the Sayaw Kultura Category in line with the celebration of the Kalimudan Cultural Dance Competition held at Capitol, Sultan Kudarat, November 18, 2022.

La Palmera Mountain Ridge is located at Columbia Sultan Kudarat, Mindanao, Philippines.

I want o see the original and authentic Blaan dance with the real Blaan blooded dancers..

For thius present days and for present generation, i dont know if the people performing are all really IPs.. the movements of thew boys wew not authentic, more Indak indak style and movement, more so that the music is not of the Blaan. more on the dances now a days just for presentation... not really depicting the authenticity of the culture. and the aunthentic practicew of the Tribe.
