FCTR: Introducing the Nashville number system

Показать описание
The Nashville Number system allows pop, rock, country and worship band players to quickly transpose songs into any key without rewriting charts or relearning songs. Each scale degree is given a number and once the key is set for a song it's just a matter of interpreting which # corresponds to which note in that key.

In this video Matt introduces the basic concepts and notation of Nashville Numbers and demonstrates a quick way to find the most important numbers (1,4,5 and 6) on the fingerboard in any key.

Matt, So glad to see you portray the Nashville Number System correctly. There are so many on line who are using the (1, 2m, 3m, 4, 5, 6m, 7dim) scale as the NNS. A minor chord must have a suffix attached as you explained. A number by itself will always be played as a major chord. I've been playing and producing in Nashville for more than 45 years, using the NNS every day and I just wanted to thank you for getting it right!

Fantastic video.
I’m learning guitar and violin and wondered if Nashville number system translated well for both instruments.
Good to know.
