I am currently replaying/playing through the Mafia trilogy (since I’ve only beaten Mafia 3 but now have finished definitive edition and currently playing through 2) and the timing could’ve have not been anymore perfect. Though I am a little disappointed that it won’t go future into the future, sticking the evolution of the mafia over time and eventual demise of it around the 70’s to 80’s. But I am open to the concept of what they are doing since it does give me major Godfather II vibes and the vibes to the original Godfather during the segment in Sicily. Hopefully Don Salieri’s story is compelling and lives up to the rest of the games

This has the potential to either be an utterly fascinating trip into a little-known historical period (even within Italy itself) or a horrible stereotype fest. Let's hope for the former, because it could be great.

I haven't played any of the Mafia games, but it always catches my attention when a game has a historical setting we don't see often

I am almost certain Don Calo from the first mission of Mafia 2 is going to be heavily involved in this game's plot if this indeed is going to take place in Mussolini-era Sicily. It's gonna be really nice if this game can stick to its roots.
