The Shimano 4000Fl has a flaw in it. No matter how much you grease or oil it has a hard spot when you retrieve your bait. This is the second Shimano we have had this problem with. We will not buy another.

Stay far away from this reel. There is a design flaw. After little use the reel starts sticking or binding and even after cleaning and oiling/greasing the problem WILL return. Shimano USA is getting mine shipped to them as we speak. They told me they would send me a new one if they cant "Fix" it. Why in the world would I want another Symetre. To just keep dealing with the same occurring problem? Shimano is really going downhill and it's sad. They use to be synonymous with high quality. Not its strictly for profit and producing the reel as cheaply made as possible. I'll never buy another Shimano spinning reel again. My Curado has been good so far. Only been 4 months so crossing my fingers
