Good morning everyone and welcome to today's UK weather forecast on Thursday 30th June 2022
Current Situation: A trough of low pressure is sitting over the top of the country today.
Today:
Thursday starts with heavy showers and longer spells of rain through parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. There's showers around western and southwestern coastal areas but many central and eastern regions are mainly dry.
Through the day showers will become widespread, heavy and thundery. There could he hail, thundery and lightning in the heavier downpours though parts of East Anglia and south east England should stay mostly dry. The showers could merge into longer spells of rain at times later. Temperatures range from 15C to 21C.
Tonight:
Showers will generally ease in most places this evening but will merge into longer spells if thundery rain through parts of the Midlands and central/southern England before pushing into eastern counties later in the night. Temperatures 9C to 15C.
Tomorrow:
A wet start in the east but the persistent rain should clear away though the morning. More heavy and thundery showers are likely in the northern half of the country but England and Wales should have fewer showers compared to today and they should also be lighter too. Temperatures 15C to 21C.
Outlook:
Saturday: A band of heavy showers spreading southeastwards followed by sunny spells and showers.
Sunday: Showery rain in the north west but many places dry and warmer.
Monday: Mostly dry and warm with the best of the sunny spells in the south.
