I don't see anything respectful about parents treating their babies like that. It's the meanest, cruelest thing I've ever seen. Then they think it makes up for it when they act all sweet after they have terrified them. It's probably the reason babies have so many bad issue growing up and nightmares. The parents need counseling!! It's child abuse in my opinion!
