Yong Heng 4500 psi PCP Air Compressor: Filling a Ninja 90ci Tank From Empty

Despite the oil issue, I still think this is a decent value. Just showing you how it works, and giving an honest review of it. Under 20 min to fill a 90 cubic inch ninja regulated tank isn't bad, much better than hand pumping!!! See link below for battery size!

I got some good use of mine and it works brilliantly
A few good pointers is to use distilled water with regular coolant fluid
for aluminum motors
Else the aluminum compressor head will be pitted pretty quickly inside,
dissolve the aluminum

Also let the compressor run freely for at least two whole minutes before
starting to pressurize as the piston and cylinder actually needs to get
up to working temperature to work best as possible and wear down as
little as possible, just think of it like a regular aluminum combustion
engine, it is just the same.

The water separator you can get to be installed after the compressor,
you can get one rather cheap online for just this model of compressor,
it is actually just a cylinder that the compressed air gets through the
top of and the water then flows down and slowly fills this cylinder the
once in a while you just bleed out this cylinder/tank at the bottom and
you can also do this with the big tanks if you have a manual valve, just
hold the valve downwards and bleed out the water before usage

That is pretty much it, use as good quality oil as possible and this
will also help with the compression effectiveness of the compressor.

I hope you then gets as happy as i do

Sorry for my bad English, i don't know the proper English word for what
the effect regular tap water has on aluminum as coolant, but grey white
scales grows out from the dissolved aluminum and impact the lifespan and
cooling performance of the compressor head greatly

I got the 220v Yong Heng about a year and a half ago. I love it. Just finished refilling my 60 minute SCBA fireman's air tank..I started the pump with 2700psi in the tank and 13 minutes later it has 4200 PSI... Just awesome.

I have one of these compressors and I have used it quiet a bit. I added a larger separator that I pack with molecular sieve. A little oil in the condensate bleed and the pre-filter is normal with these compressors. I keep my eye on my oil level and change it often. I also never let my temperature go past 74c. Good luck to you and thanks for sharing.

Very good vid. Ran super cool with out ice. I painted cars. Home. Added a big filter for oil and water. Held a tolit paper size roll. Before painting no air on. I moved a lever on filter to open and any water or oil drained down on floor. Same as the valve on the left. Not air line side. That side should be opened first then the air side next. I had to replace filter every 5 or six times. You will get water and oil on the left side. Never open at at bottle. I just bought one of these. If you open the air line side first you will have more gunk left. Open left side as you look at it from front. Oil water blasted out that side

Add teflon tape to the low pressure bolt and high pressure bolt. Make sure to bleed low side every few minutes with a rag in hand and that should help the oil from hitting up to the high side. Just a thought.

Cooling the compressor is the secret to its survival and performance. I have studied this compressor extensively before ordering as I kept reading horror stories about people frying them so
I have modified mine extensively to keep the cylinder temperature down. This includes; using cold water (0-5 degress C) to cool the cylinder. I also installed aluminum fins from an old GPU cooler and stuck them on the metal tubing of the cylinder to dissipate the heat. I added a powerful 12V PC fan that blows air on the main cylinder and the tubes with the fins. I have been using the compressor for 2 years now and it can go up to 6000 Psi with this set-up without any problems. In the future I will add an oil cooler as well and a mini oil pump connected to the main oil tank. The oil I use is the best available; Royal Purple Synthetic. I also apply a cold wet cloth to the front compressor casing as I noted this ends to get hot at high pressures. The cold wet cloth removes laent heat from the casing and I change it every time the cloth feels hotter.
The point is; this set-up works very well. One note; I live in a tropical climate with extreme heat and moisture. SO, my advise; don't underestimate the need for extra cooling and you should be fine, Check oil levels at each fill. Most failures are due to improper use. Even the manufacturer I noted gives the wrong recommendations as to the cooling requirements. Better overkill measures than kill the compressor !

If you keep the black filter and hose higher than the pumps discharge the moisture will flow back into the the aluminum block so it can be blown off with the bleed off knob, and should be done on the high and low side about every five minutes while filling. Keep the tampon prefilter changed when it shows saturation through to the back side so nothing goes to your gun or tank. I use a second filter filled with molecular sieve above the tampon filter to remove any additional moisture. You can also add a layer of carbon below the sieve if the smell bothers you but it won't damage the gun. The sieve I use has color changing beads so it's easy to tell when it needs replaced. I refill my 45 minute scba tank from 3000 psi to 4300 psi in about 15 minutes and my temp is just reaching 60C when I turn it off.

This unit has been out for a while, most reviews give a positive response, when you are working with 4500 PSI you can expect some blow by of oil, the real culprit is moisture, if you can put the compressor in a controlled low humidity room it will help eliminate some of that, your idea on a larger filter intake is a good idea !

Nov 27, 2021 now...still got the pump..still works great.. But...I have used it to just fill my guns directly... so fast and easy.. 1 minute or 2 and you are ready to shoot again... Only time using the tank is when I go away.. which is rare. so this pump has been used in short spurts for a couple years now.. But.. is fast and I love it.

Does the black knob on the left side just to open air to the crank case for venting purposes.

Yeah from the bleed valve. I just tried mine for the first time today super fast under 20 maybe 15 min... Loved it lol i was hella scared i was behind a wall watching it....

Good review of this compressor. I'm planning to get into high pressure air soft guns. There is no way I would use a manual pump!

The hand pump is great exercise. But can really slow down the shooting. I'm with you on the compressor

That is why I am going to spend more and get the AirVenturi. I believe ari venturi is not made in China and has 5 star all the way. Thanks for posting and describing the issues found.

I got one and in a humid environment (Charleston, SC) its sprays out water like crazy when I bleed it. So if you live in that environment get a long dessicant filter for all the water in the air it will suck in.

I had some oil get into the air gun when I first started my pump. It took some time for things to wear in. I run it no more than ten minuets at a time allowing the water pump to run continuously. Purging the water and dirt is important.
Did i mention how much of a god send this thing is?

I am looking to get one of this compressors.I am 50 years old and just now getting into pcp air rifles.I have seen the YONG HENG 110 volt compressors for $285.00 free shipping on ebay, but they sale fast at that price.I have always been a competitive shooter in fire arms and never gave air rifles much thought.Boy have I been missing out.I have $1500.00 dollar 22 lr guns and the GAMO URBAN I bought is almost as accurate as my Anschutz. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the info, when filling bottles, sit them in cold water too. Like some diving shops do when you have them filled there,
I to would have ice in the cooling water too, al

Excellent 👍 for stop compressor..long life compressor.

I just got the same compressor and the only thing that was concerning me was once desired pressure in tank was reached, what was the switching off procedure, you answered this, thanks, first fill in a couple of days.
