Three remained in captivity with their mother; one died shortly after birth and was cremated by Fritzl, and the other three were brought up by Fritzl and his wife, Rosemarie, after Fritzl convinced her and the authorities that they were foundlings. In March 2009, he pleaded guilty to all counts and was sentenced to life imprisonment.

there is a little change in this story i have read numerous articles regarding this case, , here are the few corrections
joseph was always fond of elizabeth since she was younger . he was a spectacular engineer and designed the under ground basement in way that it would be sound proof so that elizabeths screams cannot be heard, ,after going to hospital the doctors refused to treat kerstin as they wanted the biological mother to be there, joseph was forced to take elizabeth to the hospital . when elizabeth reached the hospital the doctors were terrified by her own state, when they were asking question elizabeth was not able to say anything and after sometime when the doctors told her that they cant treat her daughter if she doesnt say anything then elizabeth said that i'll tell you everything if you promise me that i will not see that man's face again, after this the rest of the part happened, , the part where rosemary comes she knew that there was something wrong and tried to investigate but whenever she tried joseph used to domestically abuse her also thus this is the reason rosemary was not involved
