The Samsung QN900D 8K Neo QLED TV is proof that Samsung has no intention of taking its foot off the gas when it comes to 8K TVs. As one of the last TV brands still making 8K TVs, Sasmsung all but has the category cinched up. Still, we were curious to see how Samsung's flagship 8K TV stacks up to its own flagship 4K TVs as well as the best of the best from competing brands. We've got some details on the Samsung Q900D's peak brightness, out-of-box color performance, and upscaling improvements right here!

Oh, and as a bonus: Samsung is tossing in a free 65-inch TV to anyone who pre-orders the QN900D within the first three weeks of its coming out, links below.

I work for a retail store that has these tvs and safe to say with all the knowledge provided to me through the retailer, i still use some of Caleb’s key positive takeaways as selling points. Great Videos !

I feel like Samsung is being smart with continuing making 8K TV’s. Yeah, we aren’t getting much 8K content. Once the time comes for plenty of content Samsung will have mastered their tvs. Also there’s always a niche group of consumers who purchase the best of the best no matter what.

Streaming can't even do full bitrate 4K. 8K TVs don't seem worth their cost yet. We need to go back to using more physical media. Buy 4K UHD Blu-Rays people!

Finally, a Samsung TV that I would purchase at a 65" size. Bring on the 8k for the full review.

Caleb, great video (as usual). When you do a full review could you please go over the Multi-View capabilities, and if possible compare the QN800 vs. the QN90/95? There is very little information out there about the relative performance of the lower 8K TVs versus the higher 4K TVs. And regarding Multi-View, I mainly want an 8K TV because it allows Multi-View of at least 2 HDMI sources (compared to 1 HDMI + Phone, or 1 HDMI + Internal App on the 4K TVs). This may have changed overtime, but again, there is very little information out there.

Great info! I've had their 65" QN800A (8K) for a few years (2021 or 2022) and still LOVE the picture. The upscaling is great. The sound is okay, not great, but I generally use our surround system when listening at higher levels anyway. No regrets over buying this TV at around $1900 at the time. I can only imagine what the QN900D delivers! Yikes. 75" or larger will be my step-up as our LR wall is large enough to handle a 100" TV if I had that disposable cash... My dear wife might dispose of me if I ever went that big, lol.

I'm planning on replacing my main TV, the QN95B 85 inch with either this 85' QN900D OR THE 83' LG G4. Would really love a comparison of these 2 in the near future. Seems like there are so many great things about each.

I'll tell you I'm not the biggest Samsung fan but their efforts to make their TV's more accurate and not over saturated I've gotta respect that! I think once micro LED comes down to an actual affordable price, Samsung is really going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Thanks for your reviews. This is the one I purchased yesterday because of your review.

The brightness and HDR performance for the Samsung QN900D changes depending on what size you get. The reason for this is because the 75" and 85" models have "Neo Quantum HDR 8K PRO" whilst the 65" has "Neo Quantum HDR 8K+". I've seen the US listing on the Samsung website and they do not make it clear at all. At least on the UK site, they do mention this. You can notice the difference on the US site if you read the specs for the 65" vs 75"/85", where it states HDR difference. I do wonder what the 75/85" variants look like as it is stated on the UK website to be the brightest Samsung TV and this TV is supposed to be Samsung's best Neo QLED, topping the QN95D we have here in the UK (a step up to the QN90D mentioned in this video).

Great content Caleb, can you do a comparison of the QN900D 8K vs the Samsung Qd oled S95D, can the 8k mini led beat the Qd oled in processing and image we really need to see this, rather than oled vs oled, and oled vs the best 4k mini led .

The way AI upscaling tech is going I wouldn’t be surprised if 8k blows up rapidly in the next few years

Hey Caleb, outside of video games, where can we watch native 8k resolution videos on this TV? Does the YouTube app built-in to the TV allow this? (Or Vimeo, Rumble or any of the others?)

Hey Samsung: more important than an extra "free" tv is a lower price on the one I'm buying.
