Ancient Kamiros in Rhodes, Greece, also known as Old Kamiros, is one of the top sights for tourists to visit.
Kamiros was one of the three great ancient cities of Rhodes island. It is located on the northwest of the island about 50 km south of Rhodes town. It was one of the most powerful towns and formed together with Lindos and Ialyssos the powerful state of Rhodes in the 5th century BC. After being destroyed by an earthquake for the second time in 142 BC the town was abandoned.
