Welcome to Agriculture Academy, where we show you how to start a profitable business in agriculture.

There are many small animals that you can rear on your small holding. Goats are one of the most rewarding, because the does are prolific milkers and their meat is a low-fat source of protein. If it is the milk you are interested in, then this video is perfect for you. Goat milk offers so many benefits, it can usually be consumed by those allergic to cow’s milk and the high fat content makes it suitable for cheese and soap making.

Stay tuned until the end of this video and we’ll give you your very own info-graphic that you can download.

We have Mini Nubians created by crossing Nigerian Dwarf goats with Nubians. They are easier to manage than standard sized Nubians, eat less, but make more milk than Nigerian Dwarf goats.

We started out with Nubians years ago but switches to Alpines. We did have a Saanen Buck once, but he was way too much to handle. We now stay with Alpines who milk more months per year than the Nubians and my wife makes many cheeses. We also make soap and yogurt.
There is a book written by Mary Ann Toth titled "Goats Produce Too" which we recommend to anyone thinking about getting goats or anyone who already has goats. It is by far the best book we have ever found for raising goats and using the milk.

My Saanen and grand champion Alpines. My Alpine always kidded two girls that at fair took grand Champs. My Saanen ( called banana udders) won the milking contest. She had a 7 wk old wether that got reserved and they, the buyers gave it back to my son. Yes it was a strong 4-H group full of different clubs but, as the leader of our GTTOPPERS I l loved it. Now a granny on the other side of our continent and a 6 yr old grandson I am hoping to get our g.k. into it.
