PLEASE NOTE: This is not a tech channel, but simply a show-and-tell. It is not designed to give advice and support on vacuum tube amplifiers but to show what I get up to each week in the workshop.

I deliberately keep tech talk to a minimum, or at least to a point where it’s understandable to the casual viewer. There are other channels more suited to that level of detail.

I do not do reviews, either paid or unpaid. My opinions are entirely my own and do not represent those of others.

The fender amp is uncannily clean like it was stored in an oxygen free environment in a museum lovely to see 😊

That pro reverb is the exact opposite of mine 😂

That Pro Reverb clearly hasn't done the UK winter pub-gig dance... warm house, cold car, hot and humid pub gig, cold car, back to warm house!

I have a 1978 Silverface Twin Reverb with JBL's in a very similar condition, it was magga gigged for many years, I had it in a flight case which kept it safe and dry. I did a re-cap a few years ago as it was very crackily and popped a lot, it fixed all of the noise but it now takes 15 to 20 mins for the valve hum to settle down, I suspect some resistors are out of tolerence, must get round to checking it, your videos have inspired me to sort it out now 👍

I had a super six about 20 years ago, I cleaned it up with a cap job and I had planned on trying some mods with it. I had read all about (on the Weber VST board) how awful the SF stuff was, especially the UL models. I really didn't know because I wasn't even born when most of them were built. After getting it up and running, I was surprised at how nice the Super Six actually was and I actually liked the sound, even with the master volume. It didn't last though, because a serious Derek Trucks fan found out that I had a nice super six and it was gone, much to my wife's delight (it could shake the house).

Great to see what a well cared for Fender amp can look like, even after 40+ years. Such a shame it needs new caps, but the owner got his monies worth out of them, and it’s great that it will continue to be a working amp rather than museum piece. Would love to have a read of the catalogue. How about a bonus episode of “Chris does Jackanory” where you finish reading it, maybe sat in a rocking chair, so we can find out what happens to the prince? 😀

That Madamp G3 Rock was the first amp I built 2 years ago, it's a great little bedroom amp, I've emailed you the build docs.

0:55 that would make for a wicked industrial drum loop :)

You could use that variac to vary the voltage so you can put the 230 volt in there although I understand that your voltage is very close today

The 6n6p is a great tube. I use them for preamps and love them.

My Boogie Mark IV was kept in a bedroom before I got it. I have never left it anywhere damp and always looked after it. It looks as good as the day I bought it. It has had service with it being 36 years old now, but it still looks rather new. I cannot say the same for my 50 watt JCM800. She has been through the war when I got her. I have cleaned her up since and took out the mods she had. It now only has the Lynch double pre amp tune mod which is easily removable.

Take care of them and they take care of you
Many 100s of gigs on my amps and they look as good ( in the case of the 800, better) as when you get them.

That amp is a true diamond of an example

The little 3watt German hobby amp is a great design, maybe a lot to be learned by studying that little box?

Great episode! I was sharing your excitement and enthusiasm while giddy-geeking over that Pro Reverb time capsule. And that Fender catalog...absolute gold 👍

The amp on the front of the catalog is a Fender Super Twin, at that time it’d of been the reverb model.

What does it take to unlinear one of these? Aka take it back to 50 watt spec.
