Vintage Russian 2 stroke motorcycle up and running, IZH Jupiter 3.

Today I worked on this Russian motorcycle and got it running, it hasn't been running for quite a few years.. It is a 1973 Russian IZH Jupiter 3 , 2 stroke 350cc engine.

We had these in the UK. They were regarded as the poor man's Jawa 350.

My grand-father has one. He selled it after a time. I didn't chatch that times becsuse i was born in 2007 and gald to see it working.

I have a KMZ Dnepr military sidecar motorcycle I restored. Because it was built in Ukraine before the collapse of the Soviet Union the assembly quality was very bad. I took everything apart, inspected and fixed all parts, and reassembled it correctly. It's actually a reliable motorcycle now and not junk as some say all Russian made motorcycles are. The problems with them comes down to living under communist control. Worker's are and treated as slaves and so do not care about the work they perform and so you must do what I did to have a good motorcycle. I love my Russian Bike! It's the most fun motorcycle I've ever owned.

Fond memories driving one of these with a side car down in Havana Cuba back in the day. It was a Soviet made late 60's model Jupiter 3.

i grew up in Cuba and we were inavaded by those Motorcycles during the 6o's 70's and the 80's

I had a friend that had one of these, back in the 1990's. When used Volvo Penta piston rings as he said that they were justthe perfect size as replacements.

Izh Jupiter 3-01 1977-1981, it was a transitive model between 3 and 4th of Izh Jupiter.

I just met a guy from Baluchistan, Pakistan; he said these bikes were very popular in Iran /Afghanistan/Pakistan. he had one like this. prices in those regions was about US $1400.( he was talking about 1980's)

I have 4 type of this Glorious Soviet era 2 Strokes Motorcycle i have a IZH 56. IZH PLANETA-3 1973 A Trike IZH 56 Modifed by a dude and another IZH-56 1958 ✌️✌️

I had one back in the 1980's they were sold with sidecar. The switch on headlights when you turned it switched on parking light for sidecar. Great fun but not the best tone of engine's mine was around 1974 model.

Have one for sale locally here in North Queensland Australia, I’ve never seen one either and I’ve worked on and been around bikes since I was a young kid, cool bike

I had the 175, it kept going and was easy to ride, but the standard tyres were a block tread and the road handling was unpredictable. OK in mud, though. No battery and a thoroughly useless magdyno, so I failed my bike test because the examiner couldn't see my indicators: "slow down, change down, indicate"...no visible indicators. Had I known, I would have done hand signals, too, and passed.
I still have the owner's/workshop manual somewhere, for nostalgia's sake, the toolkit that came with it was enough to do anything on the bike that didn't need machine tools.

Does not look like a 73 model. Front fender, tail light are all from later models (76 or so). The exhaust pipes from 73 were cucumber shaped and carb/filter is missing a cover (unless it is a different year).

Buenas a todos tengo un jupiter k5 y estoy pasando trabajo para reparar sus cigüeñales no tengo acceso a las bielas originales quisiera saber si saben de alguna biela de cigueñal de algun motor moderno que se pueda adaptar si saben me pueden decir la marca y que modelo de moto para ver si puedo conseguirlas saludos para todos
