The Ali vs. Inoki fight was CRAZY! 🥊🥋 #shorts

A quick but in depth look at the infamous fight between Muhammad Ali and Antonio Inoki that happened in 1976.

Initially thought as a scripted fight, the battle became real when the alleged scripted finish of the fight got lost in translation: Ali refused to lose in sketchy fashion to Inoki, he wanted the fight to end cleanly: Antonio took that as an insult, thinking Muhammad Ali was belittling him.

"There's no reharsal" these were the words spoken to Ali by Inoki's interpreter days before the fight. The man formerly known as Cassius Clay was shocked by this sentence.

The battle was initially going to be a scripted pro wrestling against boxing bout, but a set of rules was imposed by Ali's team on Inoki. Antonio, was limited in his actions, but during the fight, he caused damage to Ali, anyways.

This fight, started as a playful act, became the downfall of Ali's career, and health.

By accident, this is considered to be a precursor of today's MMA and UFC fights.

I was only 9 y.o. in 1976. I remember watching Ali on TV when I could at my Aunt and Uncles house. Im a huge Ali fan. I love him for the boxer he was but also for the man he was. He's the greatest on many levels i.m.o. This is the first i've heard of this publicity fight.

inoki wanted a serious fight, but it was Ali who was freaked out by it. So Ali started adding various rules to his advantage. Ali wanted to pro-wrestling acting fight, but was too afraid of serious fight.
Don't believe Americans' biased information. Inoki always proposed serious fight. Ali freaked out and just added a rule in his favor. It was Ali's request that throwing techniques and submission techniques were prohibited. Taking away throwing and submission technique from a wrestler is like taking away punches from a boxer. You could see how scared Ali was.

Inoki's sansei was Rikidōzan, who was born in northern Korea and trained as Sumo Rikishi before turning to Pro Wrestling.
