Tangled animation detail that will upset you!

The Tangled animation actually has a lot of psychological elements. Look at how Rapunzel reacts to Mother Gothel's fall despite stabbing Eugene at the end of the movie. You probably missed it because it happened so fast, but it shows the huge impact that prolonged emotional abuse can have. This may have depressed you a little bit, so let me just mention a few details to fix it. These two scenes that we see in the movie actually date back to the Rococo and Baroque era. The drawing that inspired this scene is actually The Denial of St. Peter. As you can understand from the name, this is a picture of interrogation and denial. Just like in the animation. As for the 2nd picture, The Swing, it is a drawing that briefly shows Rapunzel's freedom. I pinned it in more detail in the comments.

If you read the Description section of The Swing from Wikipedia, although The Swing is said to express freedom, it also talks about the evil around it. For example: “a young man hiding in the bushes and showing his swinging skirt”, 'the old man swinging him on the swing', “and the statue in front of him signaling him to be quiet''

This work of art may mean different things to different people, but rest assured that the film crew shows that Rapunzel, who has been free, is not so free after all.

They made a very nice audio narration for The Denial of St. Peter, you can access it from their website, I liked it very much.

The last painting with the woman on the swing is also the same painting in Frozen where Anna is singing.

Of course Rapunzel is going to react. Mother Gothel was the only mother she'd ever known. She was locked in the tower but beyond that she was cared for. In her head she believes Mother Gothel loved her at least a little. Despite her only loving Rapunzel's hair. She did what she could to keep Rapunzel happy so she wouldn't attempt to escape. As seen in the beginning when Rapunzel asked for paints that would take a few days to get and return.

She was upset for like 5 seconds then moves on. This movie came out 13 years ago and I even remember thinking, well that reaction was fast.
