Remember, it's illegal to get mad at me for trend chasing views!

There will be a 3D printer in every home within our lifetime. Just like a paper printer was. The competitive advantage of a "print farm business" will always be the IP of the designs and processes, just as in nearly every other manufacturing business.

I picked up two Centauri Carbon's on the launch day. I''ve got 41 hours of print time on one of them, zero failures so far. The second I'm just setting up now. I've got 7 Bambu X1C's and 1 P1S and I must say, for what I print (PLA/ABS functional parts), it's crazy good, I'm very impressed with the build quality and the print quality.

The machines are easy, it’s the CAD that will keep going

A 3d printer is just a tool. Most people don't care how their saw is built. Just that it cuts well. You can buy a decent used woodworking setup for a few hundred dollars and design some products that sell well. 3d printing will be the same. People who are good at designing and marketing will do well.

Hahaha I love your blunt and honest approach to this topic. You are right in so many ways. In the same way the Ender 3 got so many people into 3D printing, especially when it could be had for $99, this new Elegoo is going to get so many people into the next level of 3D printing and possibly even farming. Lower barrier to entry, as you say in so many of your videos, increases the overall quantity of entries.

Did we see the collapse of Kinko's and print shops with the introduction of ink and toner color printers in the $800-3000 range? I'd say we'll be fine with cheap $300 3D printers hitting more homes as the novelty wears thin as people find out they need to buy tens of filament spools, store them, use them up, buy or subscribe to models, maintain their printer, deal with the in's/out's of slicing (yes even with Bambu), and no not everyone wants to be a 3D cad expert, nor a e-commerce mogul selling $10 flexi's one at a time. The adoption cycle will be there as we haven't hit the peak yet but there will always be a split between the hobby and the business unless the industry can basically make these 3D printers into Star Trek replicators to buy and print vs ordering from Amazon. The 3D seller community already eats itself with a race to the bottom as it takes awhile for hobbyists to learn how to price to support the many costs of doing business vs just their "free" time and filament spools.

As long as you design the unique products that people want, there will always be opportunities.

The wait time for the Centauri Carbon is 4 months. I want it but the wait is too much. Looks amazing though.

Your right, but there's a few things that are involved in 3d printing. From what I have seen so far its not perfect. I think a lot of people will buy it, but with the whole belts coming loose in shipping and more issue's, I think people will still be put off. I cancelled my preorder as its not here in the UK until July. For me a lot can happen between now and July. I think 3d printing businesses will go for a long time as not everyone will want to create a business out of it and its a bit of a hassle buying filament dealing with 3d printer issues etc.

What is even more insane is that they also have a $200 "Centauri" base model CoreXY printer that competes with P1P. The only thing missing is a AMS that they say is coming later because it wasn't ready yet.

i got my centauri carbon about a week ago. It is incredible, and I've barely had any failures.

You're right about doing many things. I sell on Etsy, I have not jumped into Amazon as of yet, I do craft fairs at 1 to 2 a month and because I am a CAD ninja I prototype and make parts that are obsolete for businesses. All while working 45+ hours a week as a controls engineer. It does bother me when I go to an event and see a 12 year old with the latest patreon dragons selling prints for next to nothing because to him $5 is a mountain of gold.

Fully agree and thank you for articulating this well! Starting a 3D printing 'business' is no joke if people are trying to just print the same files everyone else is. I had to lean into my own niche and designs to carve my own path which has thankfully worked well so far, but all the "me toos" that we may see popping up soon are in for a reality check.

I am a farmer and agriculture is the biggest industry in our country. Lots of billion dollar companys I'm competing with. Im just little me over here growing 6 acres of veg and cutting 120 acres of hay. I make a jam up living with my wife at home. It is not about competition but how you distinguish yourself.

I have a Elegoo centauri carbon on pre-order here in Australia and it''s not going o be used as a printing bussiness it''s just for me and my son to print stuff you can't buy in the stores or a fraction of the price for store bought stuff

The easy Etsy money was a flash that came and went, like so many. Likewise the Centauri is just another new machine, that will be eclipsed by another new machine in a couple months, once China ramps up to duplicate itself. We have been there, and done that a half dozen times now. These are just tools. The real important thing is still the idea that is brought to life with the tool.

As long as the FDA doesn't get involved with 3-D printing Im going to give it a shot. Great points in this video.

Not only are more people creating print farms, but they are WAY faster than print farms that are over two years old.
