Academy 1/48 CH-53E Super Stallion Build Part 3: The Cabin

The Super Stallion build continues. In Part 3, I complete the tail with rivets and photoetch and assemble it. Next, I started detailing the interior, adding details to the ramp area and cabin ceiling.

Next build log will include some more interior detailing - maybe even including the cockpit - but I might switch it up and get the engines, sponsons/fuel tanks and other external bits completed first.

Excelent work Chris. I particularly like the sketchs you do up front to plan your details.

Wow, I thought photo etch was the highest form of modeling torture . This is a whole new level of punishment . Good on you for keeping your sanity Chris . Looks very nice.

The amount of detail you put into this model is astounding! It is extremely impressive to see how you are turning this into an actual miniature version of the CH-53E. @13:58 Not that it matters now but, the picture you have is with all of the sound proofing down. Normally, you wouldn't see all of that unless you were doing maintenance on the aircraft. The model actually shows proper ceiling panels inside the crew area.

I just finished the post rivet part of the video during my lunch break . That interior work is some serious modeling . Looking forward to more, Chris .

Authentic detail can never be discounted and should be at least attempted to bring more interest to the build. Imagine Chrismas cake without marzipan frosting. Another excellent presentation, Chris, me boy.🙄🌴🦐🍺

Your attention to detail and the time and effort that you spend to capture that detail are remarkable. This is great viewing and I can't wait to see how realistic the final model is going to be. Keep up the great work

Whoah bruh, that's really coming along nicely - despite some detail omissions these Academy Helo kits look fantastic, that's a bloody big beast too!

The forward part of the soundproofing covered the inside ribs.later in the 2000s, they took out the sound proofing . Everything is exposed now

I am trying to build a CH-53D for HMH-463 for my dad who flew with them. Luckily I was finally able to find a CH-53D from Academy and it is supposed to be painted for HMH-462 in Operation Frequent Winds. I am looking forward to your next update videos on the more modern color schemes.

What you re calling wires in the cabin are hydraulic lines to the taildisconnect section .the flight controls are hydraulic .

Lots of fantastic detail Chris! I can wait to see what the interior looks like once it’s all painted and assembled.

Outstanding detail. Drilling the lighting holes in the frame work must of been hard but worth the effort.

The ceiling are sound proofing panels that cover the framing. You didnt need to put the extra details on that area. Understandable confusion considering you havent a reference photo showing the panels. Another set of parts we removed over time. I am speaking as someone who crewed and maintained this aircraft for 22 years. Thanks for your build.
