It's the part where he says "he just ate my hair" that really settles the tone between the two. The original sounds like he's in disbelief saying it to himself, the reunion sounds like he's telling it to somebody in a weird tone.

Its odd, sometimes his voice and delivery sounds fine. Others he has a very noticable nasally tone that probably should have had a retake for some lines.

It is my long-held belief that Zack and Cloud bonding over coming from podunk towns is actually a pretty good basis for their friendship but the stupid delivery ruins it fully lol

Rick's performance as Zack has been one of the most memorable performances for me. I remember thinking when I was young that I hoped my voice would sound like his when I grew up.
