We are not responsible for the failure of other governments. Each country is responsible for its own citizens.

Open European Borders between EU member states means strong European Borders to non-members

The solution is on the other side of the border.
That is where people are fleeing from
And so there is where we can prevent people from wanting/needing to leave their homes in the first place.
And the international community should intervene there, backed by the countries where people are fleeing to.

OMG what a pathetic debate. Ideologues proposing a utopia just for a change.
The long reasonable one is the older European man.
The other two are completely possessed.

I honestly think that the USA needs to do a Marshal Recovery program for Latin America.

The international community should intervene in those countries and correct the system there. Else this will go on A taxpayer should not share the problems & burden created by corrupt governments on other side of the border.

Europe is not and has never been a continent of immigrants. Thats why we placed on the map three large and relatively uninhabited ones for the world to immigrate to.

That lawyer has taken a particular worldview of the immigration figures. Legal immigrants are a positive to a society. Illegal immigrants tend to have a negative impact. The difference is down to the socio-economic standing of both groups. Legal immigration are usually at higher levels and come prepared.

Two things I fail to understand
1. is this the same USA that the left say is not for purpose?
2. Why the left behave as if they can, or are even willing, to accept all who turn up at the borders.
3. I respect the work of these aid agencies but the solution is to fix their countries.

I had to stop listening when that activist spoke the following ridiculous phrase - we have the resources to accept everybody -

Oh yes, domestic terrorism is exactly the problem in Europe. Just look at all the major terrorist attacks of the past few years. They have been comitted almost exclusively by nationals, who have been radicalised by domestic clerics, who the authorities knew about. The fact is, Europeans have long fought a battle that is not theirs and picked a side which is not ours and now there are consequences.

THE EU & US should help to stabilise failed states and help bring up poor countries to a higher level.. Otherwise illegal immigration will only increase and keep increasing... However, the Marshall Plan showed helping poor/war torn countries is a win/win..

California (Baptist), Nevada (Baptist), Oregon (Pentecostal), Arizona (Baptist), Utah (Mormon), Colorado (Baptist), New Mexico (Baptist) and Texas (Baptist) used to be Mexican. Florida (Baptist) used to be Spanish.

Mexicans/Central Americans usually have high indigenous blood and most of them converts from Catholicism to American Protestant denominations when they become citizens.

Florida should be safe haven for Caribbean people seeking a better life.

All the other states mentioned above should be a safe haven for Mexicans/Central Americans.

English (Germanic) speaking Canada and the United States combined is larger than Spanish and Portuguese (Romance) speaking Latin America and the Caribbean combined.

So Spanglish (Romance - Germanic mix) can become the official language of all the US states mentioned above.

This will make it easier for Non-Romance speakers to learn a Romance Language (Spanish) and for Non-Germanic speakers to learn English.

I think it's not just about money. It's about culture and values as well. In these conversations it always seems as if it's just about money.

Why is diversification a good thing? I like my country's culture, why does it NEED to change?

The humane thing to do would be to let people who are looking for a better life and are willing to work to make America a better and more humane democracy
