Perceived, observed and modeled impacts of climate change on crop production.

This is a seminar presented by Peter Civan, PhD, mostly summarizing the chapter 7 from the IPCC's 5th Assessment report - Climate Change: Impacts, Adaptations and Vulnerability. When non-IPCC material is used, references are given.
Focusing particularly on wheat, this presentation points out that the IPCC report itself provides little evidence of globally negative impacts of the ongoing environmental change on crop production. Lack of global trends for most of the agriculturally-relevant weather patterns, uncertainties in detection and attribution, positive effect of CO2 fertilization, as well as ambiguities in modeling outcomes, are all highlighted. Finally, food security is discussed in the context of climate change, poverty, and growing links between energy and agricultural markets.
