Dan Brown's 'Origin' 5 Minute Review

Dan Brown's "Origin" does a great job of bringing the familiar Robert Langdon outside of his comfort zone a little bit.

This book does a great job of mixing things up while the protagists try to uncover the truth about the origin, and destination of all life.

I hope you enjoy my review of Dan Brown's "Origin"

Good review. Just finished it. Not as complex in terms of puzzle solving and code breaking as his past Langdon books but enjoyed the content and main focus.

Just finished the book. From the beginning easy to predict who the murder is.

Thanks, I thought Origin was a lot better than Inferno, but not as good as The Lost Symbol (my favourite of the Langdon series). Brown does like Langdon teaming up with women and running from people doesn't he? This time the elegant Ambra Vidal, I think Brown's a bit of an old romantic.

I appreciate the angle you took in reviewing this book. I’m thinking about buying these books, but based on the type of information he talks about instead of the storyline. So your review was quite helpful, thanks!

This book actually convinced me to be atheist. I fell for it, man.

Although it's not a fast paced thriller, the way every character's idealogies are fleshed out (especially Edmond's) is truly commendable

Among the Langdon series, I would say Angels and Demons isthe best of all them. I like the plot twist there.

I think it was a decent book.not an 'omg a total masterpiece' kinda book. But it was a good read. The problem with Dan Brown books is his build up.Sometimes it can make u lose interest in the plot. But just to get to the climax i think its worth it.Btw i checked all the symbols and arts and the amazing architectural reveals in this book aaaand they r all true.I recommend reading this book and checking all the artworks and the architectures along with it.its worth it.

I loved the story. Made me felt a rollercoaster of emotions. I am an atheist so there is a great connection between my reasoning with Edmon's but the difference is that I do not resent religion.

I like the "predictions" of Edmond, though. The technological advancements are really exciting especially in the field of medicine. I searched the cholesterol-eating technology and I've learned that there are studies about it now.
Also, I'm thinking about Langdon's thought about if laws of physics are responsible for the creation of the world.. then who created those laws?. I'm not a atheist and I'm not also a religious types of person. I'm a person who "adores" some of the most exciting breakthroughs of today's world. Maybe there's really an omnipotent being there that responsible for everything. Like an Architect. Like the DNA. It acts as a code for instructions in biological processes. Maybe some omnipotent one planted DNA to make life possible in this planet possible.

Dan Brown, in his novel, Origin, has stolen the novel(I know who killed me) of Syrian novelist named Nabil kochaji

I just read Origin and it's the first book that I've read from Dan Brown. I think the ultramodern technology in the book was a little overpowered and the reveal at the end was kind of boring because of that. The symbols and the details about artists were interesting though. Next I'm going to read the da vinci code.

I was really willing myself to read this book. I am a die-hard fan of Dan brown but both inferno and especially origins was dead depressing and boring.

He is travelling and escaping more than solving codes or answering question. This could be the first book where Langdon did not decisively solve anything except the very end.... which any murder mystery fanatic could solve.

I have a weird question that I can't get it out of my head.

Does Valdespino's name get cleared in the end that he's not a murderer? And the Polmarian Church too?
I don't deal well with wrongful convictions and I just can't deal with the thought that there are innocent people getting charged with a murder they didn't commit, man. I know Dan Brown killed off Valdespino... but people still thinks he's a murderer. It didn't clear his name in any way. Made the ending feels even more rushed and unenjoyable to me

All in all very disappointing.
Origin was extremely formulaic, as Dan Brown's novels usually are. The puzzles and intrigue usually salvage the book but this time it just didn't work for me.
The first 100 pages are full of rambling and boring exposition. There's about 50 straight pages all throughout the book where Edmund goes on and on about how revolutionary his discovery is (which ultimately turns out to be completely anti climatic).
Terrible characters as well, no development whatsoever. Ambra Vidal is a complete Mary Sue whose only purpose is to be drop dead gorgeous and explain things to Langdon. Speaking of, you'd think Langdon would have some personality after five novels but he is as shallow as ever. The romantic subplot is straight up ridiculous.
I absolutely loved Angels and Demons, Da Vinci Code and Inferno, The Lost Symbol was not as good but it was acceptable. Origin is extremely disappointing. The formulaic plots, anti climatic endings and lack of character development just don't cut it anymore.
Dan Brown is usually a bad writer but a good story teller. This time he was neither.
