Californian here, person of color. Voting Republican (but in New York now). But trust me when I say, demographics will not matter soon. Minorities are sick of the democrat identity politics, we need jobs, lower taxes, AND HOUSES FFS!

We’re on our way to turning California red, we flipped two seats in Orange County and it trended republican when most states didn’t in 2020. The recall was a setback though.

California wouldn't have been a disaster if Newsom wasn't elected....

I think California can turn purple, I definitely think California could become a battle ground state again, solely because democrats have ruled the state government for many years.. They have been doing a very poor job at keeping our cost of living affordable, our communities clean and safe.. A lot of people are leaving, including democrats (which is unfortunate because of the other affordable decent states to live in).. That will bring competition to the dems here..

I’m a Democrat, born and raised in northern CA, but I remember my parents voting for Schwarzenegger for governor despite being very progressive minded.

This state is extremely complex and can easily host non-democratic politicians, but the current GOP establishment is pretty strongly disliked by moderates in CA so any Republican candidate would need to be able to break from DC talking points and ideologies. E.g. look to the republican governors of Maryland or Massachusetts as a solid game plan for a republican statewide CA candidate.

CA Democratic Party is hardly a beloved institution in the state, but is able to hold onto power by simply not being classic hardline social conservatives.

CA has shifted even more into the Dem. camp simply as a reaction to the GOP national stance, it is hardly a positive reaction to Democratic leadership.

Just a suggestion to my more conservative friends when looking at CA.

Politics is barely about the issues anymore but about polarization. Everyone has a team and very few switch.
