How to fix broken couch Zippers

Didn't work with the broken zipper I had on me, even though I had also the perfect pliers at hand and thought: what a lucky coincidence!...
Worked on it a little bit more, bc it feels as if it should work, but just doesn't. Probably the plastic teeth of this thing are outta whack.
