I've always been happy Northern Minnesota has only garter and about 8" little red- belly snakes. I grew up with chickens too, and lots of times I'd see chickens after garter or garden snakes. Southern Minnesota where my sister lives, That's another story.

How many snakes have your chickens killed through out the years?

We killed one about a week ago eating a turkey egg.. I’m pretty sure there’s another one because the turkey eggs are gone. Mama turkey was sitting.

When I had chickens, I welcomed the big rat snake. It ate all the damn rats. If it got an egg now and then, I didn't care. I had rat issues for years until the snake showed up. Chickens didn't bother the snake. Your guineas probably saw it and made such a fuss that all your chickens had to see what was going on. Surprised they killed it though.

You need a couple of hogs they cleanup ANYTHING you throw into the enclosure!
