The fact that Joker still mentions the chocolate at the end, completely unprovoked by the player, leads me to believe that, canonically, a Joker who pursues the harem route does so not because he wants all these girls in his life, but specifically to retrieve a massive haul of chocolates on Valentine’s Day. Brojiro handing him the chocolate post-beatdown is the only thing that stops Joker dying from despair at that very moment.
