In comms with Billy Forrest on how he discovered Dee Dee, “Wow Marq, I’m amazed that this was released in Angola. When I saw the picture of the cover you sent me, I smelled a rat! I would never have invested this type of money in an unknown singer. I am totally unaware of this being released there. I only found recently, thanks to you that several of my songs were released there, which I was not aware of. It seems Angola was a hot spot for me, if I had been made aware of it, I would have gone and performed there…
How I discovered Dee Dee, I’m amazed, because he arrived at my gate one day and said, ‘I've written some hit songs and I want you to hear them’. He handed me a tape and I thought, ‘this guy is serious’, and I liked what I heard when I played the tape, very primitive recording but there was something there. I recorded one of his songs, "Long Lonely Winter Nights", with Steve Lonsdale (Cherry CS 1001, 1978) I did "You Left me” in Afrikaans, titled "Honderd Jaar" (EMI Brigadiers BR 3168, 1979). Not sure if I recorded "You Left Me" myself, I think I did (MV – I am unable to find a recording of this track). His name was Barend Joses Fourie and he passed away about ten years ago. Doubt if he ever saw a cent in composer or artists fees, thank once more to … of SATBEL, who hi-jacked the Publishing Rights”.

Há muitos anos, nos bailes aqui na minha terra, fez grande sucesso o outro lado do disco "You left me", trazido pelos retornados. Ainda guardo o vinil.
