I saw the book 'Reef' in the university library and loaned the book today. It's the author's name being a Sri Lanka name that initially drew my attention. When I came home and browsed Romesh Gunasekera I learned about the author. So delighted to have come across the book though it happened by chance. Look forward to reading 'Reef' and other books by the author.

The idea of the reef as a metaphor of memory and imagination is interesting. Thanks for sharing this food for thought. It will be fun applying this metaphor to the understanding in the variations of historical accounts. Have a happy day fellow bulldog.

Pity there's no sound. I really enjoyed his novel Reef and I wanted to hear what he says here.
