Jimmie Durante was on television when I was a kid. He was semi-enjoyable to watch. I had no idea/appreciation of where he had been, what he had done, his amazing level of talent, and the kind of man he was off stage. Now, seeming him perform in this movie, I am so fascinated that I could watch him sing and play for hours. 'Also discovered that, in his private life, Jimmie Durante, like his movie character here, was a family man and gave profusely to charity. Thank you Cult Cinema Classics.

Enjoyed this old family film, Jimmy getting some of his words wrong on purpose like Hilda Baker did in Nearest and Dearest made me laugh. Like these old films, good character acting.

An extremely pleasant family film for Christmas which made me laugh especially when Rupert was discarding the cash like a 90’s rapper. I only really knew Jimmy Durante from the Charlie Chaplin song, Joker etc, but he was clearly a talented pianist and his distinctive vocal delivery definitely made him stand out. Also he name checks himself when they are running away with the polar bear rug which made us laugh.

Oh thank goodness the old man was reunited with his squirrel friend, and everything worked out in the end. Reminds me of the Bible parable where one son buried some money his father gave him, but the other son used the money and made it grow.

11:00 pardon this unseemly protrusion, but this is one of my favorite Christmas movies. The juggling scene is perhaps a metaphor for the entire film. the audience needs to keep track of everything that's in the air or they'll miss something. For an extra treat, close your eyes and you can hear both Frosty the Snowman and Smiler Grogan.🎄

This is so funny. I have a squirrel friend that I call Rupert the Great. He visits me a few times a day for a free meal. This is a video my brother took of us. Rupert doesn’t dance, but he uses me as a jungle gym.
