Have exactly the opposite problem: can read, but cannot speak. The more you read the more characters you can recognize

I love your positivity towards learning! I've seen many comments under other videos where people would attack other learners for not being fluent or their language skills not being flawless. I don't know but your videos really motivate me because you tell us that we should just go for it instead of being scared of studying a language😊😊😊

It's Friday night. I'm in the US, learning Mandarin from a teacher in Thailand, while listening to salsa music.
I feel like I've won something...
👍😃😆🏆😊👏😎

I love this channel!

Anyone else feel like writing is the ultimate measure of mastery over a language? Another thing is practicing writing will improve every other language skill: reading, speaking, grammar, vocabulary, comprehension etc.

I started learning to speak the basics, when I lived in China.
Then I discovered a book explaining all 部首 radicals. It’s from Edoardo Fazzioli and exists in many languages. I also made up flash cards from the book as well checking on Wikipedia „227 Chinese radicals“ As there you find all different versions too. Like river chuān 巛 also can be 川, or shì worship can be 示 as well as 礻. It’s important to know.
Since I know the radicals, remembering characters is much easier for me:
Like the word 想 xiǎng, to miss, to think of.. for me now consists of mù 木 tree, mù 目 eye and xīn 心 heart ❤️
Much easier now 😃
Then there is the page characterpop to pop down characters to their radicals- but it’s not perfectly complete and some mistakes there... but still ok

My problem is that I can read characters but when I go to write them I cannot remember how the character looks exactly or the strokes. How can I overcome this?

I have been dedicated to learning Korean for a few months now. It can get difficult and feel overwhelming sometimes, but I want to learn Chinese too. Instead of letting Chinese be a chore, I am simply watching your videos, listening to Chinese music, and doing an occasional lesson on Lingodeer whenever I feel like it. It isn't a very fast pace, but I am learning it and enjoying it a lot!!

I just started using a lot of the resources you mentioned, been reading du Chinese, Mandarin companion (before I move on to other graded readers I found as well as some kid's story books a friend sent me) every day for about 2 to 3 hours, as well as making and reviewing flashcards for 1 hour. I honestly feel my vocab has increased a lot in the week I've been doing this, hope I can keep doing this and next week start writing once or twice a week and speaking maybe daily with a friend to test my progress. 加油 everyone.

Hey Shuo, I really wanted to thank you for your helpful lessons, I started learning chinese 2 weeks ago but made a big progress already thanks to your videos and explanations, they are really fun to watch! :) otherwise I'd probably already have lost my motivation, but thanks to you I have a lot of fun studying! Now I want to get into studying characters so your video came just at the right time, I've already looked into Du Chinese and will subscribe with your code because the app is super helpful. I can not thank you enough for your help, you're such a great teacher, I hope your channel will continue to grow a lot more!

I think that the VAST majority of foreign adult learners have exactly the opposite problem. Reading is normally the easiest skill. Then understanding, then speaking.

谢谢你!我以前觉得写汉字很难,现在我可以读、写很多汉字。 I started a “radical dictionary” and I’m going through all the words that I’ve learned and organizing them based on radical/common characters. Understanding the meaning behind the characters really helps you memorize it. Anyways, thank you, I found this video helpful!

老师, 谢谢啊.这视频真利害. I love when you make the "drama scene". Your male actor is so funny. You should make some smalls videos like small novels when you have free time. You are soooo funny giving the examples in Chinese that I keep watching the "couple" part. hahaha....
