Consumer Alert: Glass Furniture Exploding Spontaneously

More and more glass tables and shower doors are shattering without warning. What’s causing these explosions? CBS2's Kenneth Craig reports.

I had a 1" thick beautiful glass table for over 10 years and moved several times across long distance (900 miles and 1700 miles) and glass was fine. One morning while having breakfast, I heard a loud noise. It was my beautiful glass table top what exploded without warning. What a mess it made 🤣 and ruined my day. It was unbelievable.

This happened to me too! We just moved into a new house & at 3am we heard glass shattering! I swear I thought it was a spirit! It was one of the side tables in the living room which we just bought 😖

I think it's actually caused by pressure building up within the glass along with the cracks inside the glass

Just happened to my glass tv stand. The middle shelf just thing I use it as a shoe rack and don't have a tv on it!

It is 12:30am just was falling asleep and my tv stand bottom shelf just exploded out of no where. Scared the shit out of me, was unexpected. Unbelievable

It happened to me yesterday- glass table exploded, sounded like a gun shot. Glasses were spread around including on top of the higher surfaces. I suffered 5 cuts on my legs.

Our glass dining table exploded like that. It was very scary. We didn’t understand why. We glad we found this video cause we were having negative thoughts of unnatural forces. Luckily no one was around when it exploded.

I've had a glass desk and glass dining room table for 15 years without any problems. I don't see why furniture would break while house windows and automobile windows don't.
