Supposedly people believe that Rennala is closer to what the original plan for the Deacons was- datamining revealed that Aldrich was supposed to erupt from the coffin after you beat the Deacons to make for phase 2. Not sure whether that would have been better or worse, honestly.

Only difficulty with it is that it serves as a damage check, if you’re damage isn’t good enough then u cannot get past phase 2 because of the curse build up.
And let me tell ya I did not have damage when I first did this so it was hell…

I get where the hate comes from with this boss but I don’t think it’s justified. I always feel like a memorable boss lineup is like an album, you need high and low intensity songs to round it out. This is one of those more gimmicky low key kind of fights. It breaks up the tempo of the other boss fights, even helps the intense difficult combat check bosses shine more by contrasting them.
