As someone who has visited NYC a bunch, when I heard them using the actual subway sounds from the NYC subway, I was blown away. Sure, they could have just used generic subway foley sounds, but the fact they went the extra mile to really make it feel like NYC was amazing. So, I would have given the assembly point to Soul.

Rivalaries?? Both are incredibly insightful movies in their own right. This is like putting chocolate vs. vanilla.

I think he meant that Pixar has never been one to shy away from more mature themes or maybe Pixar has never been afraid to embrace more mature themes.

inside out had a real ending. i don't remember what it was, but soul had none. They could have easily have shown that 22 went some place. And he mentored children in music, 20 years later seeing her grown up and playing in a jazz band, with him watching. Would have made sense. Seeing him as a mentor spirit would have made sense. Soul left me annoyed at the end.
