Going through dance class and is the best reputation of how to make the moves. 5 years from a traumatic leg injury I want to get back to dancing like I used to 25 years ago.😊 My wife convinced me to do the dance and a gala cuz she saw the Beckham challenge. It was rough on my part 😁

Well, learning to dance for the last year as I approach my 72nd b day. Carolina Shag, East Coast swing, two step, River Waltz, Cupid shuffle and now the electric slide. Yes, I know it's older than the hills but who cares. Nice job teaching it.

The electric slide is basic line dance that has many ways of doing it. This is the version most common at honky tonks and is a very good learning video.

This is appreciated in 2024, I’m going on a cruise in January 2025! I’m nearing that “Half Century” life marker and never learned to do this! Tried a few times but other videos went too fast and added flare. Thank you for taking it slow and only doing the basic steps!

The one thing I got I have to admit being a contractor mitigating an injury, dancing works muscles better than physical therapy just my opinion. I suffered a catastrophic shoulder dislocation as well and the baller of dancing helped strengthen the muscles that have given me the most trouble through my rehabilitation. Doing fun exercises this is great exercise to those muscles outside of you're normal routine. 😉

This was big in the '90s when I worked on cruise ships. It's very simple, but looks great and is fun with a few people.

I never did the electric slide with my friends at prom, or at my friend’s wedding. I recently learned how to do the electric slide, unfortunately I was dancing alone meaning it was too little too late. Had a good time though.

In my 60’s learned electric slide two weeks ago. Taking a dancercise class and learning more line dances. Got my muscles hurting😀. But I’m remembering that we did square dancing in school. Can’t recall what grade.

Nice job. I would add a note. The variation you are doing is good and fairly popular. However the original calls for three walking steps backwards after the left vine. The only reason it’s important is, if someone is doing it this way and someone does the straight walk back, the person behind is gonna get stepped on. So my advice would be to tell your students about that so they can be aware. Thank you. Keep Dancin!

Have you ever wondered why the Candy Dance / Electric Slide doesn’t fit into counts of 8? …even if you’ve been doing this dance naturally since you were a child 🤷🏾‍♂️

It’s because the ‘spin’, or ‘stomp-knee’ or ‘stomp-kick’ is a _reduced version_ of the original “electric-”(stomp-), “slide”(literally slide).

The dance we all know is (almost) two sets of eight:
*First Eight*
1-4 _Grapevine(or two steps) Right_
5-8 _Grapevine(or two steps) Left_
*Second Eight*
1-4 _Two steps back(add flavour🌶 or ✨shimmy)_ *
5-6 _Step-knee, Step-kick …OR ELECTRIC SLIDE_ 🎉😂 **
_(7-8) fly, land, recover, freestyle_ 💃🏾 ***

* For the two steps back… imagine a plane taxiing on a runway preparing for takeoff or a feline (cat, lion, tiger, panther) backing up and preparing for a jump pounce. This is the preparation for the amazing electric slide… (or stomp-turn in line-dancing)
** In line-dancing, the step-kick(cowboys n cowgirls) or step-knee(african diaspora) is a TURN(bring the right should from behind to in front, turning anti-clockwise)… the turn replaces the step-slide(which is the electric slide) because when you’re line dancing all together there is no space for everyone to step(on beat 5) and go flying sideways (beats 6, 7, 8)
*** Beats 7 & 8 are omitted when line dancing because the slide is cut short 😭

However, if you have plenty of space, bring back the SLIDE inna de (in the) electric slide 😄⚡️🛝
