There were 35 athletes in the competition, not just 10. He also won the sandbag into sled race which is nothing like powerlifting at all. Ended up winning 2 events and finishing 6th out of 35. I feel like you undersold his performance some here.

He crushed everyone in the axle dead. If he trained strongman more, he could be the best in the world at his weight.

You're just looking at the final day standings, that only the top ten from the first 2 days advanced to, there were way more than 10 competitors in his weight class.

To be fair, Mariusz Pudzianowski had similar issues during his first WSM, albeit in the opposite direction (great at the athletic events but poor in the static strength events).

I’m waiting until he gets a few more competitions in before I write him off as a strongman

Can’t say enough good about Haack being top 10 in the world for a sport that isn’t his primary sport. When you’re so good at something similar, you have to be secure with your mind and ego to put it on the line like this. He was great at all the disciplines, winning the moving event in addition to the deadlift. Absolutely an all-time strength athlete

You could have done a better job at comparing his feats to the rest of the field.

A John Haack + Brian Alsruhe collab would be great to see!

One big event in strongman is the overhead press events. It would be interesting to see how he does at those as I don't know if he trains it.

Reminds me of the time Thor almost broke powerlifting records before tearing his pec

Was deadlifting the only movement he tried or were there others?

I hope to see more of John Haack in strongman in the future💪 It highlights though that strongman and Powerlifting are different sports.

In Germany we have a heated debate on the internet if Leonidas Arkona or Dennis Kohlruss (4x germanys strongest man) is actually the strongest german. And imho thats a stupid discussion, because although they both use weights, they do different sports. It's like comparing a 100m sprinter to a 400m runner. Both are running, but it's still very different.

John Haack is a savage. If he really wanted to dominate he would have to push his weight into the 300s but his strength at his weight is amazing.

Close grip bench is superior to wide grip bench.
