The Superman archetype is becoming stale, but My Hero Academia breathes new life into it.

Who's your favourite My Hero Academia character? We're all big fans of All Might but Todoroki is pretty badass too...

I love both characters, but the only thing that makes the Superman archetype stale are shitty writers who don't understand what the character is about. Plain and simple.

Superman doesn't need to be this broody Anti Hero as if we didn't have enough of those. At his core Superman is meant to be a symbol to inspire people to do good with the power they have, though I can understand how people can view him as so much larger than life he becomes difficult to empathize with. All Might shares a lot of these same traits but he is also a lot more vulnerable and thus comes across more human.

"He got to grow up in the world he now protects." What, like Superman?

As someone who is a huge fan of All Might and Superman I gotta say this kinda misrepresents supes and paints him as a one dimensional character.

Anyone else feels that all might's relationship with izuku is like if Superman mentors spiderman?

What makes japanese super-hero anime so unique when compared to american comic books is that registration isn't even a debate. Amercan mentality necessitates a Civil War over government registration of superpowers. In both One Punch Man and Boku no Hero Academia, registration of superheroes and governmental recognition of their actions is integral to the setting.

it's so weird to hear "All Might".
I'm used to "All Mighto" :)

Although I agree with all your points, as a Superman fan, I think he's not nearly as difficult a character to write about as some people have made it seem. Both Superman from the DCAU and All-Star Superman made the character compelling.

We were doing great until the "Superman never grew up in the world we tries to protect" Excuse me? Don't you know _anything_ about Superman's origin? You know the part where he grew up among normal people raised by a regular couple? And that he has a regular mundane identity that he uses to do boring mundane things, so he doesn't hover over humanity?
I think you meant, All Might grew up as a regular person so he knows what it's like to _be_ a regular person, which Superman never got since he was always superpowered. But that's completely different from growing up away from the world, I think you're thinking Batman

i think you were a bit unfair to superman but you made some good points on all might. they have more similarities than differences in my opinion

3:53, have you read the comics? Superman is very much like that, most of the time he is just a normal bloke..

Basically, an Anime borrowed core elements from Superman more than a recent multimillion dollar Batman/Superman movie.

I thing you should read some Superman comics and watch some Superman cartoons before you do videos like these.

Because I can see that you have never even seen Superman comic in your life.

"He has one advantage that Superman never had. He got to grow up in the world he now strives to protect."

Umm Have you... Read a superman story? Or watch the films ?
Pretty Sure Clark Kent didn't grow up on the moon.

Surprised you didn't add the fact that all might was quickless thus making him feel as an ever more relatable character especially for deku. It's such a joy to read/watch MHA because of the emotion and character development. I personally haven't been interested in any Heroes but when it comes to all might he's as real as I could think of.
