On this Boiling Point, Ritchie and Daniel Ware discuss what is involved in an annual open and close steam boiler inspection.

Here are some of the questions Daniel will be addressing during this video:

1. How often should high and low pressure systems be inspected?
2. What should you look for on the fire and water side during a boiler inspection?
3. What should you be looking for in the refractory during inspection?
4. How often should your system have a blow down?
5. What should you have prepared prior to inspection?
6. What do you do to your system after inspection?
7. How much fuel inefficiency and reduction in heat transfer is caused by soot build up and scale deposits?

Key Terms discussed in this video:
Open and close boiler inspection
Boiler blow down
Boiler refractory repair
Boiler scale
Boiler gaskets
Boiler tubes
Fire tube boiler
Water tube boiler

Remember the value of your boiler system, maintain it properly and save cost in the future.

What does an inspection opening on a large feeder tank typically look like? Is it above the water level? Or does the tank have to be drained to allow the inspection opening to be opened? Also how is it opened for example, is it bolted shut? This feed tank is at atmospheric pressure
