Ryzen APUs are smart enough. If they lack VRAM, the entire RAM utilization will increase

Thanks for this video it saves me a lot of time testing. I'm using 4gb vram and my system ram is 16gb only. No significant boost in FPS when increasing vram on AMD APU's. Resizable bar is not compatible with Cezanne processors although turning it on the bios allows it to modify the memory configutration. The only thing that will increase the performance is overclocking the cpu and gpu and of course faster ram.

From what I understand more vram does not give more fps, but it gives more stability in the fps.

Thank you for providing this information, now I know that I don't need more vram if my ram is already huge enough

In think the amout of vrams doesnt affect fps too much, its just important for running the game without crashing when you want to change medium or high settings.

increasing vram to 4gb improved the lows's fps giving less stuttering. So for most games 4gb vram looks good if actual ram is 16 gb. Very rare for game to use over 12gb ram. So no performance loss on that front.

It seems like the lack of actual ram bottlenecks the 8gb setup, wonder what'd happen if you had 32gb ram +16vram
It's especially visible in CS:GO, a less RAM intensive game, with differences of about 3fps average, but 5 fps gains in some parts

I don't know about you all but I used this hack to extend my VRAM to 4GB and now I'm seeing roughly 50% boost in gaming performance! This is on 5600G and Gigabyte A520m DS3H board and 16GB of 3533MHz RAM

I changed Vram on my 4600g via bios (msi A320m) by first changing os mode to UEFI second enabling XBAR and last will allow you to change integrated graphics memory to more than 2GB-16GB
then finally change Os to dual mode and reboot, while changing it made no big difference, but some Vram limited games were fully playable.

leaving this here as well about my advice. man I can tell you what is my experience, hope it helps: until today I had 2x8gb = 16 CL17 3600mhz and 4 gb redirected to gpu. since today I have 4 of those, not 2. total 32 gb . i straight up redirected 8gb to my apu just to be sure and have another 24gb RAM - 19 usable since windows uses some. the changes are : my pc can now play 4k videos without stuttering. something that before was unwatchable. literally pictures. also, before - i used to play gta 5 rp and because I record, only during recording, my fps would drop significantly. now since I made the change, I can record and play with the same fps. so no more frame dropping during recording. also, I think photoshop will work smoother since I also edit. video editing the same. so this is what to expect. From my personal experience with this config from last 2 years almost, I recommend this built whole heartedly but with 32gb RAM, not 16gb. The change is subtle as described above, if you are a pro user, like high demand - 32 gb. if you dont care 16 works. i got the same RAM I already had, just 50% off the initial price. a freakin bargain - I have 2x Kingston FURY Beast RGB 16GB DDR4 3600MHz CL17 Dual Channel Kit =4 x 8gb

VRAM never afects Fps, neither in GPUs. It afects the charging Time and the amout of texture load in Open World games.

You don't need that much of vram because your gpu can't utilize it because it doesn't have enough power to drive that much .... Its a gpu core bottleneck not a vram bottleneck

i think 2Gb of vram is enough. VRAM is more like "reserved" memory so other apps can"t use it and only GPU and Windows can utilized it, but if the GPU need more than 2GB it will take other ram memory (Shared Memory). So better not to set the vram on more than 2GB because it a waste of ram space utilization in general

Im confused, why there is almost no difference at all?
Bcs i also use r5 5600g no gpu, didnt know the default was 512mb, i looked around and figured things out, so i dont really understand this fully.
I played warhammer 2. 512mb was unplayable even with 1280x720, i cant even play with low shadow. Turned it up to 2gb, it improved significantly. Im looking for a guide how to increase to 4gb. Found this and kinda confused why there is only small difference between 512 mb vs 4 gb vs 8 gb.

Some manufacturers got the auto-memory scaling right, and some did not. Gigabyte definitely did not.

VRAM DOESN'T REALLY MATTER FOR AN APU I GUESS...

I may be wrong, but i think medium to high end vram is meant to reduce ram usage while gaming
