"I stayed with nuns a lot while growing up, and it was while asleep in the monastery that I had a lot of dreams — some of which I remember being quite sexual and foreshadowing of a life and world I couldn’t even imagine — glimmers of a life very much like the one I inhabit now. I loved the nuns and the devotion and peace they showed me. I thought I might become a nun myself for a while. I helped take care of the goats and painted egg tempera icons. I remember, while working, I could feel a cheeky and powerful pull growing inside me. I followed that lust, without fear of failure or misunderstanding, towards my own divinity undefined by any dogma and I can only describe that feeling as having faith." – Eartheater

This song is probably one of the most beautiful things my senses have ever listened to

Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, showstopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it

Growing up in rural Romania as an Orthodox boy I had eventually figured out that I did not fit into the dogma. I was not the most religious, but enough to create a clash between faith and identity. Faith and hope of living a life free of fear. For me, hope was the one that made me feel like life was worth living, because it promised me that I will not suffer in the very end for simply being who I am. Converting to hope is an arduous journey, and I still need time to complete unraveling my own inner intolerance. Faith can consume hope.

Eartheater always bring this sense of incredible intimacy in her music. Its like she puts her heart on the table and asked us to watch it beat.

She gives me similar emotions of when I came across sevdaliza but in its own category yet still sharing this dark ethereal embodiment I seriously love

Read the quote from her in the description. The way she speaks of herself and her music is always moving to me in so many ways. I mean this when I say it, that I’ve never connected to an artist more than with Eartheater. Her choice of imagery in her lyrics, the themes of transformation, growth, sexuality; her use and transformation of the word faith throughout this album all resonate with me so powerfully. I cannot stop listening to this album. I’ve never connected with one more.

The ammount of times I have cried while listening to this....OOF. Even just reading the lyrics gives me literal chills. This & How to Fight especially have become so so dear to my heart, I can't even express it with words. They feel like a deep religious experience, like a prayer. Truly thank you for creating this entire album

1:14 this entrance is other-worldly - the way the visuals perfectly complement the music... It made me think of Wong Kar Wai films

"Faith Consuming Hope"

[Lyrics]
the only way out of this is through
flames are but dew
upon my skin with you

i've seen the phoenix rise
out of our ashes
born out
born out of it
born out
born out of it

the only way out of this through
cross my heart and hope
to die is to elope, oh

i've seen the phoenix rise
out of our ashes
born out
born out of it
born out
born out of it
borne out
borne out

hope has a leak for doubt to seep in
cross my heart with no doubt
that i rode it to the grave
through the pressure
through the pressure
through the pressure and its phases
up from the bedrock to the necklace
faith has no doubt
like the ashes of a phoenix

Eartheater - you are one of few real artists that stayed on this planet. Others are just fake. Your message deeply touches me on many levels. I love you. Regards from Moscow.

One of the best songs on Phoenix. One feels like levitating while listening.
