Ex-Human Rights Watch boss Kenneth Roth slams Harvard over Israel bias accusations

“It's a dangerous diversion.”

Kenneth Roth, the former long-time head of @HumanRightsWatch (HRW), has hit back at Harvard University after his fellowship was withdrawn due to his and HRW’s criticism of Israel’s apartheid towards Palestinians.

Roth had spent nearly 30 years as the executive director of HRW before announcing his retirement in April 2022. He later received an offer to join the Harvard Kennedy School, the university's public policy and government school, as a senior fellow.

However, the offer was allegedly rescinded by the dean of the school, Douglas Elmendorf. Roth has been quoted in various reports that the withdrawal was due to Elmendorf apparently taking issue with HRW’s past and damning reports on Israel.
