People can call it whatever they want to, Jon can say whatever he wants, but at the end of the day, Jon just really doesn't wanna risk losing lol Maybe he'll walk through Tom and shut everyone up, cool, but we'll never fucking know if they never fight lol And everyone is gonna say he ducked Tom. Jon really just needs to fight Tom. Losing to Tom doesn't make him not the GOAT anymore. It doesn't make all his accomplishments meaningless. For Jones the challenge isn't fighting in making UFC pay as much possible for it. A great deal of strategically pushing UFC towards paying a shitload of money for the fight is posponing and pissing off Aspinall fans. The more rhetoric deemimg Jones afraid of Aspinall the better. The more both athletes insult eachother, the better. It's all just a game.
Eventually every great champion reaches the point of retirement.
You have some to whom honor and reputation and leaving the sport undefeated trumps risking going out with a loss, eventhough it pays extremely well.
And there are others whom's honor and reputation of course also is important but are willing to put it in the line if the numbers are right. Jones would most likely be the latter. Throwing in his gloves after a defeait against Aspinall still would sting....but a 30 million dollar or more paycheck is one hell of a pain killer. No shame in losing at all.
