The COPSI project was a randomized controlled trial comparing the clinical and cost effectiveness of facility-based (usual) care and a collaborative community-based care intervention for people with schizophrenia in three sites in India. The community intervention was developed by a team comprising the treating psychiatrist, the intervention coordinator and lay community health workers (CHWs) and the majority of the service was delivered in home settings. A package of evidence based treatments was been selected for the community intervention that can be delivered by CHWs with adequate training and close supervision.

The stories told in this film highlight many of the challenges often faced by people with schizophrenia and their families, but also tell of enormous resilience, courage and hope. It is hoped that these stories will inform wider society about the need for greater understanding and support necessary for people with schizophrenia to recover.

One of my paternal aunt is schizophrenic. Sometimes its really difficult to control. She becomes too dangerous for us. Sometimes continuously laughing, sometimes sings all day round, sometimes goes round house with a knife in her hand, once threw a heavy iron tawa on my mother's head she moved and merely saved herself! Her daughter is also taking responsibility of her. It's really difficult to keep her in home.
Can tell some place where we can admit her so that she be taken care of?
