The 2023 Federal Poverty Level (FPL) numbers have been released by Federal Government. FPL is a measure of poverty established by the federal government that represents the minimum amount of gross income that a family is determined to need for food, clothing, transportation, shelter and other necessities. The numbers are used administratively to determine eligibility for certain community and federal programs. We share the FPL chart for 2023, along with our useful FPL Calculator Tool.

We'll all need to sent letters &/or emails to the agency(s) that set those guidelines, to inform them most citizens can't survive on those numbers.

They should bump that number way up with the price of gas food and rent anything under, 20000 a year is poverty .

I came here to get some enlightenment on how and why such an incredibly low number is considered poverty. It is absurd. No way a family of four can live on forty thousand, much less 31000, which they call poor. A family of four living on sixty thousand would struggle mightily. Get below that and you are in a fight for life. It has finally dawned on my why they use such absurd numbers. It reduces who qualifies for public assistance and gives America a rosy image.

I feel the poor working students and senior citizens in Utah!

They are the ones leading the job markets right now! It’s really strange!

Are the figures based on gross income or adjusted gross income, like on my tax return? The 2022 AGI on my return was less than 3500?

There is much to be said here and much to be seen but i'll commit to the important part...we must seek God and rely on his goodness. Recall that God destroyed nations for their sins of greed, selfishness, and lack of care for the needy, etc. May we repent of our sins and turn to God.
