I have found out this by chance and it is simply amazing, i will place it in my lecture related to the risk of AI . good job!!

So awesome. I walked by your office at the Media Lab the other day, saw some of things you've got posted on your wall, and thought - "Wow, that's awesome!". Next time I'll stop in and say hello. Thanks for doing such amazing work.

great video, I'm new to coding, I'm a game designer, I have a similar problem with 4c afro hair, they don't exist in hair literature of rendering! I'm currently deciphering the Marschner shader to try and adapt to make 4c hair that looks like 4c hair, I mean actual hair that isn't big curly hair like people stop at! I also have a lot of work to do wit skin shader and trying to create tool to capture skin reflectance!

Thank you for your works too!

I am but two days old."
What shall I call thee?

Joy is my name."
Sweet joy befall thee!

Thank you interesting and surprising I wish I was 50 years younger so I might look at coding. My next life perhaps ;).

Such great information about a lack of bio diversity in our everyday lives. Attempts to explain the lack of diversity while simultaneously lacking gender diversity in the presentation. Does not having your face recognized bother you? Being under represented is a problem? You cannot solve it by simultaneously being part of it. Practice now what you want your AI to do tomorrow. #thwartedallies

This isn't an "algorithmic bias", and it's not just a question of training data, it's physics and biology: different colorations serve different purposes. Darker colorations function better for camouflage and protection. Lighter colorations function better for social interactions, signaling, and warning. In humans light colorations facilitate detecting faces and reading emotions; that's why mimes and actors of any race usually paint their faces a brilliant white. This is not something any machine learning algorithm can change, no matter how much training data you give it.

Algorithms that recognize white faces preferentially to black faces are no more biased than the sun that burns white skin preferentially to black skin. And like light skinned people need to put on sunscreen in order to mitigate negative effects of their skin color, if you want to be more easily recognized by algorithms, you have little choice but to use makeup to enhance the contrast between your skin and your facial features.

Our society has become so entitled that now we consider our AI to be racist!

This is silly! There's no Algorithmic Bias in Face Recognition, Machine Learning or AI Tools. The training sets might not have enough variance. They might not generalize well . This is common with all sorts of random systems. Increase the variance in your train sets and the problems will eventually go away.
