Free Indeed! — Part Two

When Jesus gave instruction to aspiring disciples, He delivered the true but difficult news that “everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin.” Not understanding how they could be enslaved, His listeners questioned Him. Alistair Begg addresses this provocative statement from Jesus, explaining that apart from Christ, we are all bound to sin. Counter to contemporary thinking, the problem is within us: we sin because we are sinners. Only Jesus, who gave up His own freedom to secure our own, sets us free from sin’s reign and allows us to live in a way that pleases God, our Maker.

Yes, I remember lying on the floor looking up at the ceiling and imagining I could walk on it, it looked nicer. That’s what it is like for many today. Everything gets turned upside down to please the self. What God has created, man is putting asunder as we make gods of ourselves and deny the only true God. Thank you Alistair for delivering the truth of the Word.

Oh Alistair!! I used to do that too! I spent many hours laying on the couch imagining I lived on the ceiling, or rather, the ceiling was the floor and you would have to step over the spot where the door ends to get to the other rooms. I thought we should pour water into them and make the rooms wading pools. I don't know why, but thought life would be more fun that way. Can't tell you how much my husband and I enjoy your sermons. The Lord puts the right ones I need the most up next on Youtube!
