As someone who's extremely insecure and yet is very much a leader in my social groups i want to share here a message.
You might think you're unreliable, you might consider yourself clumsy or stupid, you're none of that, you just haven't felt the weight of responsibility on your shoulders, you haven't felt your shivering legs standing strong for someone who needs it, you haven't felt your heart rate slow down to calmly resolve a situation, you haven't felt the responsibility of someone else depending on you, you haven't been forced to move forward by the knowledge that someone will suffer if you step back.
You're steadfast, reliable and capable, you just need to throw yourself out there and be a leader, despite what the movies say, almost nobody wants that position, and yet it's a position that will benefit both you and those around you.
Your problem is that you quit, you quit because the only person who suffers when you quit is you, quitting is easy because walking further is hard, but quitting is impossible when you're guiding others, when every step you take is inspiring those behind you, soon enough you'll run and you won't even notice.
