I've been cutting my own hair since 2019, those self haircut tutorials...which weren't bad, but didn't give me the most professional look. Though I was still happy as I could decide my own length & style!
But Summer, you're just so amazing with your guidance! I'm not a professional so it took me quite some time to understand the technique but eventually I grasped it and I did my own haircut! Although not as professionally beautiful as your haircut, I was still able to get a 75% result by cutting my own hair with your help & tips! It turned out beautiful and more importantly after a few days, and months, my hair still has texture to it! They've grown out but still look pretty and have a natural flow to it, which never used to happen after any haircut, even if I went to salon/hair dresser! This is exactly how I cut and I am NOT bragging. It's so hard to find stylists who truly know how to cut layers. I do point cut which saves more time later but either way is acceptable. I know it's because I was trained in 1967 and all cuts were geared for style, volume, movement. The guide line at the bottom moving up is the secret. Thanks for a great video.

I LOVE this haircut! That is how I have been trying to get my haircut for the past 2 to 3 years. It seems like people are afraid to put layers in hair anymore. Hi Summer,
I’m an ex hairstylist but never told the hairdresser that was highly recommended that I used to cut hair because I don’t want her to get nervous. I paid top dollar for the long layered haircut I requested. First, she washed my hair then dried it, and finally cut it dry, it looked ok when I left, however when I washed and dried it, there were hairs that were sticking out that were never blended correctly. She left a hole over the ear areas and never blended the layers by over extending and dropping the bottom layers like you did. Anyway, I applaud you on a great haircut lesson, I wish other hairdressers would watch your channel to get better education on haircutting.

I wish that I lived in your area to request your services! This is exactly the type of cut I want, but I find most hairdressers do not know how to deal with a side part and don't cut enough layers (even though I always say I want "a lot of layers and a lot of texture").
