Peter lost his parents but he gained a loving and supportive Aunt/Uncle.

Miguel was separated from his parents and raised in a corporate sponsored pit of vipers.

Peter was bit by a radioactive spider.

Miguel was forcibly addicted to a designer genetic drug by his boss/father so he couldn't quit his job. He had to tear himself apart to kick it and gain his freedom.

Spider-Man 2099, to me was the opposite of Peter Parker. He was deadly serious as Spider-Man, and sarcastic and jokes as Miguel.
