The Inspection Panel hosted a virtual discussion on the issue of reprisals against those involved in complaints to independent accountability mechanisms on December 8, 2021. The discussion coincided with the publication of the seventh report in the Panel’s Emerging Lessons Series. The report – titled “Right to be Heard: Intimidation and Reprisals in World Bank Inspection Panel Complaints” – is based on the Panel’s experience and practice responding to allegations of reprisals since its inception nearly 30 years ago.

World Bank Executive Director Armando Manuel moderated the discussion and Mary Lawlor, UN special rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, will provide opening remarks.
